Hey, the neurotypicals are starting to notice that the Doctor is autistic and ADHD!

I really like the illustration on this article as well.

I was struggling to understand my autistic son - until we watched an episode of Doctor Who

A combination of autism and ADHD caused outbursts, confusion and stress that my son couldn’t understand – until he saw David Tennant behaving the same way

@cassolotl I loved that!
@cassolotl also I am borrowing the phrase "fizzy brain" and will drop it in casual conversation at the next available opportunity

Sadly, still missing is the whole white saviorism, paternalistic male problematic of doctor who.

And no, Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa are, if at all, only barely changing this. Yes, it is necessary progress, but it should be faster and further.

@cassolotl I wonder if there are any neurodivergent parents struggling to understand their neurotypical kids and blogging about it 🤔
@cassolotl
Sam can have an outburst at any time anywhere. He doesn’t speak. But he speaks very loud when he’s vocal. He has only one volume. Loud. We joined the Wadsworth YMCA recently and Sam has been loud often in the pool. Thankfully, we haven’t broken any YMCA rules yet that I know. The staff has been fantastic trying to figure this young man out. Kind of like his mom, dad and sister.
