I’m thinking of switching away from Debian because of all the systemd AI garbage code. Are there any good alternative distributions that don't rely on systemd and aren't full of AI code? The only things that matter to me are that I can still use X11 and i3wm.

Maybe void Linux and runit are an option. I have to look into that.

edit: fixed typo

@lukasrotermund #guix maybe, but is not easy to start, altough you can choose several window managers at start. The issue would be #nonguix for propietary video and wireless, but if you need to use that, theres a way to blacklist every propietary blob modulo the wireless. For instance if I have to boot a non free kernel I disable all the mei* blobs and a few intel GPU ones which are not needed for OpenGL 4.6/Vulkan and video decoding.
@anthk I thought about that and I really value free software, but I'm lazy AF and I hate nothing more then tinkering around with things. It should work out of the box and I think there will be problems between me and guix haha. But thanks for the tip
@lukasrotermund It's never late; I have to admit that the first setup can be complex (and a bit more if you want vpn support for NetworkManager), but everything else can be installed from a normal user account and it will be integrated into the desktop menues seamlessly.
@lukasrotermund Altough if you use i3, I think you have it covered from the first install in a checkbox.
@anthk I guess I have a look then ;-) but I can't promise to use it if there are too many workarounds to get thinks working :D
