you know I tried to use gaps in i3, but, you know, I didn't like it. I feel so much more free without the need to keep making my desktop "beautiful", changing background, or window decorations. a very bare, aesthetically still pleasing minimalist zen-burn-based color pallete, that helps me focused.

#i3wm

I recently switched from #i3wm to #Hyprland, here's my blog post about the experience! (P.S. it went smoother than expected)

#viernesdeescritorio #i3wm #linux_mint Este es el escritorio que tengo en mi portátil con linux mint, i3wm, alacritty y polybar

I'm back in #i3wm but this time turned off everything in i3status but the clock. waiting to see how it will wake up during sleep.

also, turned off pcmanfm daemon and emacs daemon.

so it's official: my ThinkPad X1 (2-in-1 Gen 9) sleeps/suspends nicely in #MATE desktop environment as setup in #LinuxMint, while in #i3wm wm it doesn't (it suspends byt it's waking up by itself).

while it feels nice to kinda be in the traditional desktop (and MATE is gorgeus), my muscle memory is resisting, and I feel like i'd be happy to be in my good ol' i3 tiling wm. somebody has a quick answer from the sleeve how to find out what MATE/Mint does that #i3 doesn't - or vice-versa (i tried with mate-power-manager running in i3, it doesn't help). is some dbus magic or smnth?

maybe i shoudl try linux mint forums.

@hollowone

I did an fbdev console challenge years ago when I tried to do everything from the console, including watching youtube.

Then I realized that just running #i3wm would require only minimally more resources, and would be so much more useful. XD

Hey Fedi world ! I'm looking for my next laptop. I was using a X1 Gen6 for ages, was really happy about it. I tried a X1 Gen11 which was a mistake, the webcam will not be supported (#linux) soon, and the screen format is not my style so much. That's 2 good reason try another one. An easy one would be a @frameworkcomputer but they still don't deliver in .ch, nor will they answer my requests to become a reseller. Any other ideas ? I'm a #LMDE , #i3wm user and a network engineer. (retoot welcome)

@jhx

Currently #Debian, #Solus, and #Kubuntu, mostly running #KDE #Plasma, but also #sway.

Also running #OpenBSD with #i3wm.

Anyone knowledgable enough in #i3 #i3wm or #sway #swaywm to make workpaces navigatable as a 2d grid? KDE allows you to do that and i kinda rely on it
kde controls:
1)Ctrl+Meta+arrows: move up, down, left, or right one workspace.
2)Alt+tab: switch windows in this workspace
3)Alt+~: switch windows in all workspaces (changes workspace if selected window not on current)
Most important is №1, if it's too hard then I'd like to use a state machine in the config, I'll implement it from there!
Thanks <3
