ATTN: #Boston #SomervilleMA #CambridgeMA #Cycling folks

There is a public meeting TONIGHT (Thurs, 19 March) @ 6 PM to discuss planned improvements along Alford St. and Broadway to extend the SL3 bus. The project description includes mention of separate bike infrastructure and improved multi-modal access to the Northern Strand.

The meeting is taking place on Zoom, there is a registration link on the #MBTA's event page.

Edit: NOPE, I was just confused by the presentation slides. The two-way lane is in fact the concept that is being *explicitly* ruled out in this presentation 😒

Oh wow, a two-way bike lane along the busway is apparently the favored design concept for the Alford Street/Broadway corridor?

okay after getting some clarification from the #MBTA project representatives, I believe the plan here is that access to the Northern Strand will involve new bike infrastructure along the BWSC property that will connect to the public path on the casino property

The slide they showed for clarification ("Alternative 1") had a two-way lane, so maybe it *is* intended to be a two-way lane after all, but the busway won't be two-lane?

I'm honestly a bit bamboozled by the presentation, will need to go over the slides.

But overall it sounds like it's going to be a win for transit and for cyclists in the area, *if* they don't introduce some new worse crossing to the cycling story

@SnoopJ this sounds promising
