After seeing the recent #AgeVerification announcement and the capitulation from #systemd , I couldn't hold out any longer on addressing #OpenSource and #OpenStupidity.

Now, the question is whether the issue will stay up long enough to make a point or see any joiners.

I took a slightly different tact than a straightforward attack on the decision.

It's no surprise that posting a #GitHub #suggestion and request to the issue queue at #systemd concerning #AgeVerification has been removed.

Not closed. Not responded to. Just plain deleted.

There was nothing in it to trigger a 'Code of Conduct' violation or being against the posting guidelines. They want zero discussions, period, and that means no public visibility either.

I am not a fan of obliterating important topics when they're uncomfortable to read.

Apparently, it's been decided to prematurely capitulate rather than look forward to any consequences. I think it would be wise to address the question of legal entity(s) and identify specifically who represents systemd and its individual devs and committers. What orgs are there already in place, and what is your/their legal status?

Age verification is now and has always been - in simple non-legal terms - a "Point of Sale" issue.
