I recently started following some accounts related to FOSS and mobile devices. In particular, there's been a focus on Linux (not Android) on cell phones.

It's introduced me to a lot of new information and viewpoints.

One recurring point many have been making is the diminished (if not nonexistent) support for apps...especially banking apps.

It strikes me as odd that Linux enthusiasts and privacy-minded types are seemingly beholden to Android/iOS apps.

@DaveMasonDotMe Personally, I use as few apps as possible since they feel redundant to me when (working) websites exist. If a service doesn't have a decent website - or no website at all - I probably won't use it.

That's not always an option for things like banking, which is certainly a problem for FOSS mobile devices currently.

@SimpleEasyLinux

I with you on all of that. Web sites > apps

RE: banking
Are there banks that don't have websites/online banking? That's hard to fathom!

@DaveMasonDotMe @SimpleEasyLinux some banks force you to use their app for auth. I've chosen my bank especially to avoid that, hoping it will last,
but for work we use Qonto... no way to even login without app.
