people keep trying to convince me that the entire economic system needs to be burned down and rebuilt from scratch according to a book written in 1867. what's your plan for Thursday though. specifically Thursday. the day after the revolution. what happens on Thursday
@Daojoan so far i got sarah taber for ag,

@Daojoan thinking about this further, anything related to tech, you can easily find someone scientific and honest about the field, but she tends to be a trans woman who potentially has already left the country,

brain drain could potentially be an issue, this realization probably needs to be worked directly into any effective plan, just saying

@Daojoan I penciled in trying to find a grocery store that still has food. Probably will take all day.
@mwyman @Daojoan that’s just bad prep… stock up your bunker day before so we can chill on Thursday
@Daojoan This is a good reminder that not everyone "on the left" is automatically a communist. It sometimes may appear so, but it's only an illusion.
@rperezrosario @Daojoan not everyone can be correct, and that's ok. More people for me to argue with on the Internet 😁

@Daojoan

All hard problems of having a society are myths invented by the present system. If you just crash-stop everything, there won't be any problems.

[sarcasm, in case it isn't obvious]

@Daojoan the revolution doesn't just happen.
@Daojoan it's not The Great July Revolution to End Capitalism™️. It's more of a process that spans years, if not decades or centuries. Just look at how the merchantilist system gave way to industrial capitalism

@burnoutqueen @Daojoan A lot of damage has been done by describing "the revolution" as a single specific event.

Even the Russian Revolution, when it's pointed to as a model of a single specific event, involved decades of building alternative forms of social organization.

@foolishowl @Daojoan

It demeans the foresight and the dedicated efforts of the Russian revolutionaries tbh

@foolishowl @burnoutqueen @Daojoan not to mention two separate revolutions

@Daojoan

Sleep in. I'm of the age where I gotta get my sleep or I'll get cranky, and I don't want to be cranky in a better new world.

Then, continue to ensure that the flow of food arrives on shelves, that the supply lines function and the warehouses are full. The trucks may now be owned by their drivers and the shops may not charge for goods, but logistics is logistics and someone needs to make sure it runs.

But I can have a sleep-in on the morning of the revolution, as a treat.

@Daojoan or we could keep the current system and eat the rich and make new rich that are responsible.

@Daojoan

Probably a little chopping, then BBQ.

Friday and into the weekend though, I got nothing.

@Daojoan the French revolution implemented a 10-day week, so there will be no more thursdays
@Daojoan This reminds me of the all taxes are bad people. Extremely myopic. People who tear things down (easy) don’t ever have a clue how to build things that work properly (hard).
@Daojoan So if the economic system is quickly crushed, then we all get to starve for 20-30 (or 100?) years while the new system is built and ends up being pretty much the same as the old system. It all starts with surplus, then trade. Then currency. And then a more complex system to manage it all.

@Daojoan I totally agree, that its nonsense, partly because I spent my childhood in the aftermath on one such attempt, and then my whole young and middle life in an attempt to rebuild what was supposedly teared down, but which in itself built lot of things, some of them weird, some useful.

But it seems to me, that the world economics is now trying to run according to the book written in 1776, so it is not such a big difference. The steam engine of 1867, which initiated global warming, was nonexistent in 1776 and it is obsolete now. There is no easy way out. We need up do date books and up to date theories.

@Daojoan
looks like that Thursday is scheduled for "solve fusion", according to the official agenda

@Daojoan Is that the book written by the white dude who completely bailed on making the connection from capitalism to patriarchy?

Because that’s why there is no plan for Thursday. There was never any plan in that book to overthrow the patriarchy, and the first Thursday after the Revolution was always going to be just another day that ends in Y.

@janxdevil @Daojoan to be fair, he was born into a colonizing country and era, so he generally bailed on all the other isms (as well as -heh heh- the big daddy of them all).

But since she asked:

completely brainwashed dudes and a few dudettes will start slinging hard to vie for DoMInaNCE!!!

because they are trained to be hyper-competitive and believe DoMinaNCE BAsEd LivINg is "natural" .

This means they will immediately begin shitting into the public pool, but in a different way,
