"Alpha/beta males" aren't real in the social hierarchy sense, as you probably know (based on bad study of wolves in captivity)

But alpha, beta, and gamma typing of males is real in the study of reproductive strategies. For those of you not already familiar:

β: ~monogamous nice guy
γ: femboi joins a harem

In light of these, I would like to suggest that we add the following, to match common usage:

We are going to need a wholesale reconstruction of the U.S. federal government if we are ever to restore anything like rule of law and pluralistic democracy in the U.S. I know I have said this before, but it bears repeating. Whenever people raise worry about the environmental impacts of AIgen megadatacenter rollout and then that Kind of Guy says well you don't know, actually it's probably very little, don't worry about it

- When they are publicly announcing the size of datacenters they want to roll out
- When they are building new gas power plants to supplement them
- When water is disappearing around the globe and it's disappearing in datacenter deployed areas even faster
- When we know that we are RUNNING OUT OF TIME on our climate clock already and should be prioritizing ABOVE ALL ELSE extending our clock
- When AI CEOs are saying they are going to build datacenters IN SPACE, the worst place for them you can think of
- When they are pushing for nuclear power with YOLO safety deregulation

It feels like gaslighting. Because it IS gaslighting.

We are running out of time on this planet. There is new space for hope with massive developments in renewables.

We don't have time for this. Don't bullshit us.

We need to really stop using the terms "the flu" & "flu like symptoms". One of the things that led to COVID being minimised early on was medical experts liking it to "the flu", meaning influenza. Which unfortunately most people read as "that cold and fever I had for 3 days in January that I called the flu, but probably wasn't actually influenza". Influenza is a deadly disease that kills people every year. It's really nasty. Yet so many of the infections people call "the flu" aren't influenza

Every now and then someone brings up #EffectiveAltruism, #TESCREAL, #RokosBasilisk, #Rationalism, or some other #Musk related nonsense. I ridicule it, or laugh, and move on. The whole evil god of Roko's Basilisk is so silly it doesn't feel worth writing about. But people started a whole cult over it and killed a bunch of people.

Since then I've been meaning to actually spend time tearing it down. So I think it's time to go kill a god. Fortunately it involves making fun of Elon Musk specifically and all the #AI-pilled #TechBros more generally, so that's nice I guess.
