Tech IS politics. Tim Cook manages a company that rivals small nation's economies. He's one of the most effective politicians of the modern age, and Apple pours money into marketing and lobbying efforts. Apple has tremendous influence over governments, and appeals against regulations.
Apple is a political bully and Tim Cook is a liar.

'I'm not political': Tim Cook responds to backlash against his relationship with the Trump administration

Tim Cook discussed his political stance on "Good Morning America," saying he focuses on policy over politics.

@SomeGadgetGuy

Pfft...

Cook is just as corrupt, lying, and venal as any other Big Tech Bro when it suits his profits...

@lupus_blackfur So not political. Much Neutral. Very every-man. Salt of earth. Earnest. Truly.
@SomeGadgetGuy I was just pointing out to my partner this week how "Melania" is the very first thing you see when you open up the Apple TV, despite the fact that nobody other than Trump has the slightest interest in watching it.
@the_blackwell_ninja @SomeGadgetGuy hahaha, you think Donald bothered to sit through it 😂
I'd bet he couldn't tell you what the opening 30sec are.
@SomeGadgetGuy I guess ending his name and his company’s reputation to whitewash and legitimize a predatory felon who married a prostitute introduced to him by #Epstein is not politics….
@oatmeal PERISH THE THOUGHT! Egad! POLITICS?!?!? Surely no! Just an earnest unbiased expression of appreciate and class affiliation... I mean... No... Uh...
@SomeGadgetGuy @gerrymcgovern Most MBAs are liars.
@christopherbrown @SomeGadgetGuy @gerrymcgovern
The most useless and destructive education ever conceived.
@SomeGadgetGuy
Politics and policy are inseparable. Cook may be non-partisan, but he's definitely political, and his politics prioritize Apple's profits over ethics, morality, decency, or democracy.
@freediverx EXACTLY!
He's not walking around with a donkey or an elephant on his jacket, but the Apple logo might as well represent his political interests.

@SomeGadgetGuy He's also cozying up to an administration that would really, really love to unperson LGBTQ+ people.

I'm sure there were a lot of rich, well connected Jews in Germany who continued to think that bad things were only going to happen to other Jews - right up until the moment their property was confiscated and they were shoved into a cattle car.

@SomeGadgetGuy @Tooden I *was* an Apple fan for literally 40 years. Tim destroyed that.
@michaelgemar @Tooden
Tim is an incredible operations guy, and even before Jobs passed, he was responsible for the regional manufacturing and distribution advantages that created Apple's current golden age.
Sadly, I miss the Apple that was more of a risk taking "visionary" brand. I got off the Apple train around when they switched to Intel chips, but they used to be a fun nemesis. Now, they just feel like a monopolistic anti-consumer bully.
