uhhhh

whats the fucking point of bothering with whois data on .gov domains if its all redacted for privacy?

cisa registered aliens.gov?

groan

@Viss it’s almost like the next push is to productize the redacted info behind some terrible auth layer so it’s not public but we only share it with “people” how pay us lol
@Viss i would have forgiven if they out mulder or scully .

@Viss

.gov, .mil, and some ccTLDs (country code TLDs) have always played fast and loose with whois data.

anti-spam and law enforcement have been fighting this for years.

@Viss ive been considering witholding my tax payments this year butbif this is how they are spending our money…

@h2onolan yeah - the hangup is that if you do that, the irs comes for you hard down the line, because they dont seem to care themselves. so it'll be interesting to see how that gets handled. if enough people all 'just dont pay' then it'll be a big deal, but im supposing it will take literally millions of people not paying taxes for it to be measured in any way.

also regular w2 staff, like, dont get a choice. their employer does it during payroll.

@Viss as a w2 employee, i rarely owe. I have many gripes about the withholding scheme but if the country is moving forward and people arent suffering too much its not hard to get on board with.

Now that our govt is doing actual evil it is causing no small amount of mental anguish to be paying tribute to those monsters

@h2onolan dude, be thankful you arent a business owner. payroll taxes are a whole thing, and every time you run payroll, you have to pay the government. and those are in addition to regular federal income taxes. its literally a tax "to run payroll"
