Thinking about that time someone called me a "sweet summer child" and I very much feel like calling me a "bitter winter elder" would be so much more appropriate.
@Em0nM4stodon The official ancient eldritch privacy elder of the internet.
@zak Fitting title, I accept it humbly.
@Em0nM4stodon as a manthing I’m kinda proud I get called “witch”. it’s a title, isn’t it!?
@promovicz It is now, Witch Prom 🤘
@Em0nM4stodon you might know: in German the feminine word for “hacker” is “Häckse”, which is often pronounced like “Hexe” (witch).
@promovicz Ha! Awesome! I love it!

@promovicz @Em0nM4stodon Yeah, 'witch' was originally a gender-neutral term for one who trucks with the devil for the illusion of magic powers. For, ahem, *reasons*, it came to be coded as female. This was recent enough that Tolkien called the leader of the Nazgûl the Witch-King without irony.

Interestingly, most of the people executed for witchcraft in Scandinavia were men due to different cultural ideas about magic.

@Em0nM4stodon

I am absolutely stealing that one. For myself. Thank you.

@the You're welcome fellow bitter winter elder.

@Hedgewizard @Em0nM4stodon

I don't drink, but man, that's purdy.

@the
I had to look it up.
It's called Witches Brew Cocktail and it is non-alcoholic. It is mainly made from blueberries and blackberries which gave this drink such a beautiful color. 🙂
here is the recipe:

To make it a true bitter winter elder just add a drop of a bitter syrup and a drop of elder flower syrup.😁
(i know nothing and of course at first used the search term bitter winter elder 😁 before a simple picture search did its thing)

You could also make elderberry syrup - i made some with cloves in as a winter cough mixture!
@Em0nM4stodon Now that you have identified "bitter winter elder", I think there may be a whole genus of us...
