For a recent Widgetsmith feature I wanted to know how common the use of Display Zoom was among iOS users, but I couldn't find any published data on it. So I added the necessary analytics for collecting this data point, so that I could publish.

I found that around 1.9% of users have it enabled. Which is much lower than I would have guessed.

It is most common for with SE and Mini models, and least common for the Pro models.

@_Davidsmith Thanks, this is very helpful. I just fixed a bug in one of my apps that only manifested in Display Zoom mode.

Since the newer iPhone onboarding asks the user explicitly if they want Display Zoom or not, I figured it would be much higher than this.

@_Davidsmith FWIW when I was at Salesforce I had a meeting with Apple regarding our iOS app and they told me the majority of iPhone users adjust the font size at the system level.
@_Davidsmith because enabling it is a power user feature. Most people I encounter don’t know about it but complain everything is so small. I enable zoom and increase text size for them, and they thank me profusely.
@_Davidsmith The people who need it most are also the least able to perform the tricky three finger gesture. Adding the floating control HUD to toggle zooming is even trickier.

@_Davidsmith This is interesting...

Just to confirm if I am understanding this correctly, more than 50% of WidgetSmith users are using the regular iPhone?

Based on the sales reported, it seemed like the Pro and Pro Max was the majority userbase

@_Davidsmith Unrelated, but the Mini sitting equal to the SE + Air and we don’t get one anymore. It’s a damn shame.

@jeffwatson @_Davidsmith Yeah! that Air % is pretty small - I hope they discontinue it and give us a new mini.

I calculated the volume of 13mini & Air and it was very close. Tim Cook said Apple is VERY customer focused; I think the Air is an example of NOT what customers wanted! Although maybe sales are more related to price and features of the 17’s.

@_Davidsmith I’m a Pro Max user but I have it enabled due to old eyes. Most common use is to enlarge emoji’s or small details of imagges.
