I need a favor. A good friend of mine got laid off. She's in NYC on a H1B, and being trans means she's not very keen to return to her home country!
She's an amazing software engineer, with experience leading teams, working with stakeholders, and is happy to come in to existing code bases to improve things.
She's primarily looking for full stack and is very comfortable with TS, JS, Python and Rust, but is happy to adapt.

2026 has been unkind to me thus far, and my mental health is in a precarious place, but today has cause for small celebration: It’s my 13th anniversary as a tech journalist. I know my work doesn’t make headlines or even conversation, but I’m proud of what I built for myself, literally from nothing back in 2013.
Thanks to all who’ve supported me over the years.
Pushed #TapestryApp 1.9 to the App Store yesterday. Mostly a lot of bug fixes including an important iCloud syncing fix if you've been having troubles.
I mean just look at them all: https://usetapestry.com/history
I attempted to fix every single known crashing bug, too. We'll see how that goes.
Don't miss out: https://apps.apple.com/app/tapestry-by-iconfactory/id6448078074?ls=1&mt=8&pt=8934&at=10l4G7&ct=TAPESTRY_SITE
29th April
An otter
Playing with light
Out in the stillness
On smooth water
Glimmering
Soft in the music
of a flowing tide
Belonging there
Wedded to his water bride
With five silver rings
All my dreams
Are gathered here
In palest moss
Caught softly
In the arms of hazel
And hawthorn
And all my little gods
Appearing, each in turn
Conjured up
By calling out their name
Eagle
Raven
Otter
Stag
And divers dancing
To the music of the moon

A friend said that they never had the feeling of being so useless before, like they hadn't done or contributed anything important in their life.
I reminded them how much they had selflessly helped me and so many others, how their friendship, empathy and generous spirit inspires me.
We don't always know what others see in the little things we do on a regular basis, just going about our daily lives, or how it may impact them in a positive way.
Contributing happens in many ways.
