Remember when we used to get a brief interlude between the last bad thing and the next bad thing
@donni it's been.. years...

@stonedonkey @donni It's all a bit H2G2 - I feel like I am stranded in that airliner waiting for a delivery of lemon-soaked paper napkins that will never arrive as the airliner is sitting in an abandoned airport on a post-apocalyptic planet.

"The statistical likelihood," continued the autopilot primly, "is that other civilizations will arise. There will one day be lemon-soaked paper napkins. Till then there will be a short delay. Please return to your seat."

@donni And in other news, nostalgia just ain't what it used to be.
@donni The 90s?
@robinadams @donni if nothing else, we got grunge music and great movies in the 90s.
@donni
Sometimes even a few years
@donni remember when months ago felt like years ago, instead of weeks ago feeling like years ago
@donni it's a bit dispiriting to reflect that erasing the lull between outrages is practically strategic
@donni yeah but it was just because they had the opportunity to simply not tell us about a thing (that still happened)

@donni 😂💀🤌

commentary so crisp and clean.

@donni You're making me nostalgic. Those were the days đŸĨē
@donni I'd like to timewarp back to the 90s and just, stay there.

@Lydie @donni

Had me own bow-wow in the basement and a Pentium I. *And* the cold war seemed finally over and the music was great. 😭

Actually mainstream music was just as shitty as ever, miss the doom and stonerbands of those days though.

@verymetalsite @donni I was in my teens. While I was deeply depressed and nearly didn't make it, it was also the greatest time before enshittification, and now, I'd appreciate it immensely.

@Lydie @donni

Trying quite desperately to preserve what's good from those times.

Ren & Stimpy complete series, a man's gotta have priorities.

Was not happy back then either, everyone was happy because the cold war seemed over but i did not buy it, still was in a cold war fatalistic mood.

Being right about that in retrospect was not very satisfying either, i'd like to think i'm not that easily fooled ...

BUT NOT ON THIS SCALE !!

@verymetalsite @donni

Why I love the 90s: technology was fun. And since it was pretty much only nerds using it, it didn't suck yet. Letting the masses onto the Internet ruined it.

The music. I'll just say 70s-90s were peak music. And peak humanity perhaps.

Most software was a one-time fee. To hell with SaaS. And subscriptions in general. Not many of those in the 90s!

@Lydie @donni

"Letting the masses onto the Internet ruined it."

So true.

@donni no, I am a millennial and everything has been shit since my senior year when Columbine got shot up and the news media decided that we were just gonna get fed horrible news 24 hours a day everyday forever
