Are Bluesky people upset that a venture capitalist is now in charge of the platform built on VC money?
@HailsandAles apparently the ceo they called in was the ceo that also ruined Tumblr, so I think thats the beef? Dont quote me on it though lol bsky is always mad 🤷🏼‍♂️
@HailsandAles I know, right? We all knew it was coming. I've often thought about ditching Mastodon for Bluesky but this is the exact reason I chose to stay. It was only a matter of time. And don't even get me started on the whole "decentralized" bs.

@junior @HailsandAles

I like Mastodon, because other than a donation from time to time for our admin, it isn't monetizing me. I feel no algorithmic pressure to engage, and I rarely experience trolling on this platform. Could be that the admin just blocks when an instance exhibits toxicity, sparing me that stress from the TwiX/Xitter days.

@junior
@HailsandAles I never thought about leaving Mastodon for Bluesky for this exact reason. I've seen many platforms come and go, normally due to capitalism-related issues.

Mastodon doesn't necessarily have that problem as you can always just move your account to a new server/instance.

I knew the moment Bluesky didn't have decentralized everything available up front that something like this would eventually happen.

@HailsandAles Why would they be? Anyone with a sane mind knew where this was going.
@HailsandAles yes, from what I'm seeing. Everyone is some combination of mad and suspicious. Much doomsaying.
@HailsandAles Upset… yes. Willing to do jack shit about it… Hell No.
@HailsandAles BS was designed to snare & reward Dem users and to do exactly what was done to them on Twitter. Damage Dem communication and networking before an important election. #BlueSky #Democracy
@HailsandAles Depends on the person and their use of the platform.
@HailsandAles They believe it is distributed and open, too. Words don't mean anything any more.
@paco @HailsandAles It's distributed & it's also open in some ways, but it's centralized. These aren't mutually exclusive properties.
@paco @HailsandAles The distributed architecture & partial openness gives a good illusion that it's decentralized & that the company doesn't control the network, even though it does & it is centralized.
