@nixCraft Sounds like this is not a new threat at all. In fact it's the oldest one in the books... Just straight up people being tricked into giving out account info.

You'd think people would learn, but here we are.

The important thing here is that "social engineering" to get access info/passwords/whatever is not even specific to any particular thing. People need to be careful about this in everything.

I uninstalled this app a long time ago because of an issue with contacts, I kept receiving messages from people who shouldn't have had my number.😅 I have also a personal reason to be skeptical, even though it's promoted as the best alternative, I'm wary of trusting an app that hosts its servers in Washington.😆
@nixCraft social engineering yes but one that is enabled by a non-secure exchange of authentication information which social media, messaging, and financial apps seem to be phobic about getting rid of
