One of my favourite abandoned Italian villas, I have been lucky enough to explore this several times of the years.

The interior remains breathtaking despite its decades of standing derelict. Each room is unique, and beautifully ornate. What a grand residence this must have been in its prime!

@ObsidianUrbex the charm is underlined by the state of the dereliction. The old leaves are like the whispers of the past 😍

@ObsidianUrbex I wonder, if I sat on the floor in that grand entrance hall, and sang...what the echoes would sound like. And would they only be mine? If I laid my head against the bannister of the staircase, would I hear whispers, steps, music?

Very evocative photos!

@JeanieBurrell
I think if you sit still you will hear the music, maybe see shadows of the former owners hurrying about πŸ’™
@ObsidianUrbex Gorgeous 😍
We're the ceilings covered in trompe l'oeil designs or were they actually 3D?
When we visited Florence, we would play a game - is it real or is paint, and it was usually paint ✨️
@Joy_intl
These are tromp l'oeil, quite subtle but beautiful
@ObsidianUrbex thank youuuuu - I find it soooo amazing πŸ‘ πŸ™Œ
@ObsidianUrbex The interiors really witness a great investment in the making.
You know what happens here in Italy, with such precious estates? They end being "supervised" by the national historic preservation. If you are the owner they mostly forbid you to touch anything, to avoid changing anything of its historic value. This ends in a paradox where you can't even clear it from the rubbles, without an ad hoc commission studying for years what will be the impact. That costs 100s k€
@ObsidianUrbex The result is that owners leave them as you see it, because the intervention on such a manor would cost millions €, over decades in papers for permissions, or even worse in fines if you speed up works. No one would see it restored in the span of a lifetime.
The only hope is that it's sold to a state agency. They will take the same decades, or more, the expenses will be doubled (to pay for bribeing politicians, criminals, etc.). Someone in the future generations, maybe, will see.
@ObsidianUrbex why in the hell would somebody abandon such a grand place
