Are you in France with a cat that used to live in Aotearoa NZ and the cat is missing?

A cat found in Antony France with a NZ chip. Someone posted in reddit hoping to reunite the cat with the cat''s owners/slaves.

@lin Cat's looking very bloody pissed off. 😅
@lin SO MANY QUESTIONS.
@aimee @lin
Same. Including who devised the last phrase in this URL from the alt text:

@lin The cat in the rightmost picture is giving the picture-taker some classic cat side-eye. Kitty is very much not amused by things. Someone’s going to be waking up to a dead mouse at the end of the bed.
@dpnash @lin A dead mouse is a gift and a show of love! I would rather expect some vomit in a shoe ...
@lin Wonder if he came from a Kiwi Sailing family. Some families cruise with their pets.
@lin you may want to add #Caturday or the French version #Chamedi
@lin poke @georgepenney, do you know of any missing cat belonging to NZ people from Aotearoa currently in France? :)
@lin
Can't a cat do a little genealogical research without causing an international incident?!? https://nzhistory.govt.nz/media/photo/new-zealand-tunnellers-mascot-snowy-cat

@marilyn You just reminded me Peter and Torty, the WWI survivors came to live in NZ https://nzhistory.govt.nz/media/video/gallipoli-tortoise-great-war-story
Gallipoli tortoise Great War Story | NZ History

During her time working at the Aotea Convalescent Home in Cairo (1915-1919), New Zealand nurse Nora Hughes was given a tortoise by a wounded soldier who said he had found in the trenches at Gallipoli in 1915

You know, not everyone knows this, and many cats don't like doing it; but cats can swim.  🤣

@Gorfram Meet Ginge the scuba diving cat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-egTV1nHqU This advert for ihug, a NZ ISP from 2000 (or late 1999). Unfortunately cat disappeared 🤔 in 2000 as per this June 2000 article https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/tv-cat-leaves-owner-bereft/W3P34WXQ3CFXXMETI5MLCN7GBY/

ihug is acronym for Internet home users group

@lin
Hmm.. Did the cat disappear, or did it just take up retirement in France? 😜
@lin
Give new meaning to letting the cat out of the bag
@lin
Isn't it required to file some paperwork when travelling with a pet?
@lin @Souristine I’ve read about pets travelling by plane being lost in French airports. They travel with luggage, which is often handled without much care. And sometimes the box in which the cat travel breaks, and the cat escapes.
Antony is next to Orly, one of the two main Paris airports. Thought most international flights land in Roissy CDG, several tenths of km north, with Paris in the middle.
@YannnSud @lin @Souristine good guess I think.
Customs could know when the cat entered French territory
@beatricejess @lin @Souristine I don’t know the process for animals. Customs are involved?
@YannnSud @lin @Souristine
Sometimes when they come from countries where there are diseases requiring quarantine.
@YannnSud @lin @Souristine
And sometimes quarantine is 40 days...
@lin I wonder where one is normally supposed to report pets like that.

@lin generally if they're residents a local vet would have registered the chip/details with Icad https://www.i-cad.fr/

That being said Antony is where Orly airport is so it is entirely possible the cat fled from transport and maybe an airline knows something
