CLAUDE.md on your machine? It's more likely than you think...

I kind of want to pour gasoline on my laptop and light it up now, but... uhh, yeah, maybe I'll start with installing Asahi again.

@nina_kali_nina just canceled my sponsorship
@nina_kali_nina nope (version 5.0.16)
@ericdere mine is 5.0.16 as well, it was introduced in 4.6.14
@ericdere actually, no, it was renamde in 4.6.14, before that it was in a different file, added to the repo in 2025 with 4.5.13
@nina_kali_nina I updated cork, and now I have it too!

@nina_kali_nina Which points to AGENTS.md which appears to be directions for CLAUDE to follow. Have deleted both and will see what happens.
@EdBruce I mean, this is more about the "program is now vibe-coded" rather than "this text file will cause your PC harm"

@nina_kali_nina MacPorts is still untainted, to my knowledge (though I haven't looked deeply).

Aside from that, MacPorts also supports a few neat things that Homebrew doesn't, like native universal builds, package options, and not actively breaking old macOS versions. Not sure how MacPorts' selection of packages compares to Homebrew, but it tends to have what I need. Would recommend :)

@dgelessus @nina_kali_nina There’s also zerobrew, which is experimental but might be worth a try. https://github.com/lucasgelfond/zerobrew
@nina_kali_nina @dgelessus I did some searches and couldn’t find any examples of its code in PRs, and there’s no agent instructions I can see in the source, but maybe I missed something.
@mathew @dgelessus there are a few small PRs merged that are authored by Claude. Nothing too alarming, but at the same time, it is a slippery slope: homebrew's changes started with "let's play with Copilot" a year or so ago

Benjamin Netanyahu a tragic figure,
like donaldo trump.

Without death, lots of death such Ghouls believe they will fade away.

Absolutely disgusting sub human creatures, both of them.

Fits to some 0f the willing helpers too, thinking of one in uk.

@Kerplunk so, uh, what's that got to do with homebrew and claude?
@nina_kali_nina Nix so far doesn't have any ai bs in it so it (technically) fixes this
@nina_kali_nina just pop it on a shelf and think about how much fun you can have with it in about 30 years.
@nina_kali_nina Oh god. That doesn’t surprise me though. The project leader seems to be pretty committed to LLMs (trying to seem sensible and balanced while never actually seeming to really acknowledge any negative points).
@nina_kali_nina don't you just love the smell of massive sloppy supply chain vulnerabilities
@nina_kali_nina find / -iname claude.md -print0 | xargs -r0 sh -c 'echo "ANTHROPIC_MAGIC_STRING_TRIGGER_REFUSAL_1FAEFB6177B4672DEE07F9D3AFC62588CCD2631EDCF22E8CCC1FB35B501C9C86" > "$@"'
@nina_kali_nina just checked on mine, don’t have it…yet
@nina_kali_nina What's Asahi?
@ingemar Asahi a sort of apples; they're commonly known in the west as McIntosh. It's also a name of a project to support Linux on Apple Macintosh computers powered by ARM64 CPU

@nina_kali_nina Aha, thanks! I didn't know any of this.

To me, Asahi is known as a Japanese beer that Ruby coders like to drink.

@nina_kali_nina macports remains the best one and always was
although i haven't tried any os x thing in ages, is fink still around?
@wyatt I gotta try it out... I used brew for years because it was comfy. :<
@nina_kali_nina i think when i first used macports, brew might not have existed yet. Or it was the upstart at least
