If you’re at the Correspondents’ Dinner tonight and remain silent about Trump and his enablers, you are neither a journalist nor a patriot.
You are an accomplice.
Just an old geek. Learned about computers on a CARDIAC (CARDboard Illustrative Aid to Computation). Then the math teacher at HS got an old Navy surplus computer with drum memory. It had a high speed optical paper tape reader. From there it was BASIC, Cobol, FORTRAN, CMS-2Y, Jovial, Ada. Did some Java and C but never got that good. In retirement learning Rust.
Note: the main picture is from the B-24 my father was co-pilot on in the South Pacific

This is very true. The problem is that the pockets of the assholes pushing AI are a *lot* deeper than the pockets of the IT workers that companies are determinedly attempting to replace with AI.
Several years of this shit will do no more than disappoint the oligarchs, but it will *ruin* careers and even lives of millions of workers who can't just wait out a major loss of income "for a few years" while this plays out.
The FBI case against the Southern Poverty Law Center basically says that if you donate money to the SPLC, then they use some of it to pay informants to infiltrate white nationalist organizations to uncover stuff like this.

Stephen Miller is credited with shaping the racist and draconian immigration policies of President Trump, which include the zero-tolerance policy, also known as family separation, the Muslim ban and ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Miller has also “purged” government agencies of civil servants who are not entirely loyal to his extremist agenda, according to a report […]
The reality is that the FBI knows exactly how devastatingly effective paid informants are at gathering evidence from inside a conspiracy. They do it themselves.
Not paid to give false testimony. Paid to collect photos, emails, and conversations. Hard evidence to be used later.
The FBI knows.
