@Tijn my biggest concern with Microsoft burying the bar underground is that Apple can walk over by shuffling their feet on the ground. Tahoe is a disaster and if there is zero competition then they have no incentive to make it better.

@Tijn @yozy I guess we’ll see, but Linux is better than ever and works on the hardware you have today, unlike this new Windows or getting a mac. With the AI inflated prices we have now that’s particularly relevant

@Tijn except 10 isn't that good, and the whole point of 10 was there would be no need for any more, as there would be permanent gradual changes...

The last good one would have been Windows 9, but that turned out to be a disaster, so they skipped directly to Windows 10, and Windows 11 ended the tradition of using even numbers for the crap versions.

@Tijn They've been on a streak of not good for a long time anyways. Windows 8 was bad, 8.1 was meh, 10 was bad, 11's bad and 12's gonna be bad. 7 was truly the last good one, but that's just my experience. 8.1 and/or 10 could be a good one for some but 10 was a torture for me..

Those LTSC ones are pretty good though.
