Saw my GP about the rejected Gyno referral which said my hormonal issues are likely perimenopause & recommended HRT so have a trial of that.

I also picked up my referral letter for rheumatology (as medical evidence for PIP & DSA) & it says #fibro. The GP has basically said "pretty sure it's fibro, please confirm."

I've been crying in a coffee shop with my beautiful girlfriend. It's a lot to process & I was kinda hanging onto it being #LongCovid as there is at least a chance that might improve.

I can't start the HRT patches yet, I have to wait for my next period to start, which is super frustrating because I've been having the hormonal symptoms for 10 years already and they've gradually got worse and now I have a treatment to try finally I can't just crack on and try it immediately.

#Perimenopause #Menopause

@alexisbushnell Sorry. I must say that I find any interaction or treatment for these issues from NHS to be very difficult and pretty hard to understand. Not sure how much of that is due to being ND. ๐Ÿ’œ
@alexisbushnell So sorry it's not the news you wanted, and that you're suffering with processing it all. Take a gentle day. xxx

@alexisbushnell Never give up. There's so much the doctors don't understand, especially when it comes to #LongCovid, I've come to the conclusion that in many cases I can make a better diagnosis for myself than the doctors can.

And often it's hope that sees you through, regardless of diagnosis.

@AngharadHafod unfortunately I agree that it's more likely fibro. I tick all the fibro boxes and fewer of the Long Covid ones.

I'm going to push for further investigation in case it is autoimmune as my BFF (a chronically ill nurse) thinks it could also be PsA or hEDS and those are often misdiagnosed as fibro.

p.s. hope you got home safe and successfully made it to church on Sunday!

@alexisbushnell I did, thanks. And I'm looking forwards to our next Tลตt meet!

@alexisbushnell

I menopaused at 35 and was on HRT for about 10 years as I'd already fractured my spine and there were concerns about my bone density.

There are many different types of HRT and which one suits other people may not suit you, so don't be afraid to go back if the one suggested doesn't work/suit you.

With the correct medication, most conditions can have their symptoms alleviated...just hang in there ๐Ÿซ‚โค๏ธ

@TCMuffin I've been concerned about bone density for a while as I started with these symptoms in my late 20s and my mother went through menopause at 40. But if course up til now nobody in healthcare has listened.

I'm hoping that HRT will help but nervous as I've proven to be very sensitive to hormones in the past and had bad experiences with the pill but apparently HRT doesn't usually affect in the same way so fingers crossed.
