So, it has been a slow burn, but testing the water on this running thing (not a thing I have done since being a kid...). Seems like this is a thing I can do, having just completed my first 20 minutes running (all the time!) thanks to #CouchTo5K Week 5. Maybe I'll get some running shoes? Hoping that an actual #parkrun is in my near future!
@richardbadge Progress is progress. 🎉

@richardbadge Congrats on week 5, that's a massive milestone!

That's about the point I started parkrunning as well, very first one was also my w6d3 run. It's absolutely fine to just do your workout and then walk the rest of the way, although much more fun if you run a bit at the end to cross the finish line 😄

@thegiddystitcher Cheers! Thanks for the encouragement. Celebrating with a small beer, and lunch!
@richardbadge Good luck, give it a go.
I am old and slow, but find #ParkRun great. There genuinely is no pressure to go faster, we all set our own goals, which is often just to turn up.
@richardbadge Well done, and yes, I highly recommend #Parkrun for a fun no pressure event to go along to. I would recommend getting running shoes, if you can, try a specialist running shop and they'll help you get a good fit and figure out what style of shoe will work with your running style. There's a massive "running gear shoes and accessories marketing industry" which a lot of folks seem to get taken in by, almost all of which is unnecessary, but shoes are worth it.
@piglet Good advice, been a #parkrun supporter for a while, and enjoy the atmosphere. Got some shoes at a running shop (The Running Fox, Loughborough) at the weekend. Looking forward to trying them out!
