@ErikJonker The irony being that The Lancet was the journal that published Andrew Wakefield's "research" into what he called "autistic enterocolitis".

@ErikJonker I'm seeing a lot of "Lancet is just as bad as pseudoscience because Wakefield" arguments here. Watching Wakefield become the Sokal of modern medical inquiry is some Soviet-level jiujitsu.

@ErikJonker This is the same journal that took 12 years to retract Wakefield's fraudulent and extremely damaging article, which has killed who knows how many people, despite serious concerns and criticisms raised in the SAME ISSUE. And has YET to retract the PACE trial, despite that being thorougly debunked.

Maybe sit this one, "Both Sides" Lancet.

@wesdym @ErikJonker I take the opposite view from this - if EVEN the Lancet have spotted the problem, then it is reasonable to assume things are pretty dire...
