Long run 16km, sadly achilles didn't hold and the pain got elevated so much that I had to stop the run.

Only 7 weeks till my next marathon and with the current situation I'm not sure if I can make it to the start line.

**Anyway, my next video is out, enjoy: https://youtu.be/mFi0b5X49pk **

Oh! I'm cutting down my mileage even more this week with the hope that I can recover on time. Any tips for managing achilles recovery?

Bummer!
I am injury prone and suffered from Achilles Tendonitis often. For me it had mainly todo with to many km's and to much interval/threshold physical load on the body.
So I decided no back-2-back runs anymore.
Build a huge chunk of load with cross-training (cycling, rowing) and only running at endurance pace.
Since then no Achilles injuries anymore.
But I suspect that this don't match with your goal to run a Marathon within 3 hours.
@Johan_Barelds
Oh no! It's sad that it forced you away from running. Maybe that's the tough call I need to make, but I'm not ready for that 😭
@boynux
Well, its not that I don't run anymore. I just run different. Last weekend for example I did a 25km long run over the beach without any issues.
Focus is more on relaxed long runs instead of pace.
And although it is a mindshift in the beginning, I became very quickly used to it and I am still enjoying running.
@Johan_Barelds
That's awesome! Yes, mind shift is the important part, it's hard, but I'll get there.
@boynux
A bit later after my post it popped up in my head that I used to sport for performance (PB's, speed, etc) but that I moved to sporting for health.
My motto now is "getting old healthy".
And that is exactly the mind shift I made.
So instead of "what can I do to run faster" it is nowadays "Is what I am doing healthy".
@Johan_Barelds
"Getting old healthy!" I love that ♥️ I'm going to write this on the mirror 🪞 to see it every morning 🌄

@boynux
Lol. Great idea 😂 . And looking from a health perspective also other things become suddenly important like good sleep, decent food, moderate alcohol consumption, etc.

About your Achilles Tendonitus.
Did you already find a good treatment? Like excentric stretches and or massage?

@Johan_Barelds
Yeap! Agreed 💯

Thanks for asking, yes! I'm doing a full Alfredson Protocol (180 reps daily), Compression boots also daily. Also I got a Select AchillioStabil brace from my orthopedist.

Oh, also doing weekly Shock Wave therapy. It's the 3rd week and the swelling and pain is completely gone 🎉
