you know Anthropic security tool/plugin is garbage if it can't stop distillation attacks 😂There’s so much nonsense going on with LLMs right now. people actually think anyone can just build a banking system or a food delivery app or security system by typing prompts.

i think it is just IPO/getting more VC money hype.

if you think this crash in IT, IBM, security or other stocks is bad due to Anthropic plugins, wait until you see Anthropic or OpenAI crash hard. Hah. That is going to be epic.

there are certain folks who hype up things so much to profit from them. First, it was cryptocurrency then it was precious metals like silver/gold and now, AI/LLM hype and stock market manipulation out of fear that AI is going to do everything within 6 months.

i believe there is strong manipulation going on with all sorts of asset classes, but I don't have any proof. This kind of stuff hurts people who play by the rules.

sadly the governments are too busy with their own stuff to care for it

@nixCraft I don't think there is some conspiracy-level manipulation going on. Greed is not some isolated phenomenon, so I see this more as a naturally occurring thing. Call it a feature of terminal capitalism.
@nixCraft NFTs swept past so fast that most people didn't notice them!

@nixCraft Exactly. It's become a mainstream way to scam people or make money from nothing.

Influencer Hype is a marketing strategy for a useless (or easily inflated) product, to create demand where ordinarily there wouldn't be any, so the influencer (and sponsor) can personally profit. It works so well because most consumers are really really dumb. Everyone else who buys at the hyped up price will make a loss, whilst the influencer and sponsor makes a tidy profit for exploiting their audience.

@nixCraft I think it’s the hype + the typical understanding that IT jobs are easy (opinion of normies). LLMs as tool for actual Engineer are amazing, actually helps code, but for Engineers that know how an app or system should be designed. Engineers can build an app via prompts, it takes a lot of them (prompts). But normies, no.

@seven_708 @nixCraft

> LLMs as tool for actual Engineer are amazing

IME, they let people half-ass things very quickly and work in areas where they don't have any understanding, without actually gaining any understanding.

They're worse for software development then AGILEfall, in that it's the same 'ooh, look, you're empowered to do exactly what I tell you to and nothing else!', but it's self-inflicted.

@Orb2069 @nixCraft no experience people yes, coders / engineer no.

@nixCraft To people who say these problems are transient, will be fixed, a solution is around the corner, just need more parameters... To me, that sounds like someone saying that you can make a regular car fly if you keep adding enough wheels to it. No matter how much resource you pour, a lump of steel without wings does not generate lift. The solution is ontologically unfit for the problem. A statistical token-correlation machine that defers it all to training CANNOT have hard-wired safeties.
@elrohir @nixCraft agree and disagree. I think just bad example, as a car will eventually fly if you increase the seeps of it, this is due to lift pressure of air. Sorry, I agree you, just not with the example of the car.
@nixCraft The only sound investment: 🍿
@nixCraft YouTube loves to shove Base44 ads in front of me that literally promise that you can "build an app with your name on it" - either people are a lot more credulous than I am, or they get better ads, because everything else YT advertises to me is ALSO a scam - dropship crap or fake supplements.
@nixCraft @blogdiva Can’t happen soon enough. I want to see those people file for personal bankruptcy, not just their companies.
