I just posted a new blog from amazing Hanoi & beyond - northern Vietnam has so much to offer, I really had to cut down and still ended up with 100 photos haha!

@djflore Just spent a timeless while after supper enjoying your photo tour. Much appreciated.
I would take issue with your final line "Vietnam - a country to add to your travel plan without a doubt!" -- no: casual, itinerary-ticking tourists dont. With photos this good, who needs to burn all that jet fuel and contribute to the destruction of such places by over-tourism? Let those who really must immerse themselves go visit, but dont make it too easy.
We each have the capacity to make a place [near where] _we_ live more beautiful, by rejecting industrialised consumer norms and enjoying the satisfying hard work of making something uniquely beautiful of our own.
@wavesculptor thanks a lot, appreciate the feedback.
I think there’s a fine line between assuming “we” are “better” tourists than others, and allowing a place to remain true to itself without depriving it from the benefits even industrialised tourism can bring 🙂
@djflore No, I didn't. A lost opportunity, probably, since it would be difficult to do now, so many years later.
But here's a bad photo of me and the ladies I did Tai Chi with beside a lake in Hanoi, for five mornings. I don't know much of anything about Tai Chi, but I was able to follow along and they were happy to have me join in. We had zero language in common, but it didn't matter. One of my favorite memories.
