@republik_magazin For students and youth, there's also a youth discount. So if you don't have enough, you can still support them! But don't cheapskate them if you'd have enough to spend! Republik is excellent Swiss journalism!

@republik_magazin
Superb article. There are so few sources on the operations of this organisation.

Thank you (and the Swiss government) for lifting the veil. @abcaustraliarss

@republik_magazin @davep They’re going up against the SWISS? HAHAHAHAHAHA Oh Alex, you sweet summer child 🤣
@republik_magazin Surveillance company dislikes being surveilled? But surely, if they are doing nothing wrong, they have nothing to hide.
@republik_magazin Is there good documentation about well known sources palantir is using?
Not just the word gafam

@republik_magazin article ^^^
'...how do ICE agents know exactly where their targets are? To find them, the agency relies on surveillance technologies, including products from the U.S. data analytics company Palantir Technologies. Co-founded by right‑wing libertarian billionaire Peter Thiel, Palantir has become one of the most controversial tech firms in the world.

Palantir’s software draws on telephone and flight data as well as social media profiles to map the movement patterns of migrants. This enables the immigration authorities not only to identify them, but also to locate them in real time. One of the strengths of the system is that instead of having to sift through many separate databases and confusing file formats, users are provided with a uniform interface in which connections are automatically visualized – for example, via timelines, networks, or graphic evaluations...'

Best publicity a work of journalism can get! Well done!
@republik_magazin That means they approved everything you published about them is true.
@republik_magazin Because nothing says "I'm super guilty for the crimes I've been exposed for!" than trying to sue someone over an in-depth investigation.
@republik_magazin Ive read the article, and I saw nothing defamatory. I’m sorry they’re coming after you, Thiel makes a hobby of destroying publications that don’t bow down. I don’t know Swiss law, but I’m sure it’s more rational than our oligarchical worship center, and I wish you the best of luck.

@MissConstrue @republik_magazin It's a SLAPP suit intended to cost RM so much money they go bankrupt

RM will get the money back when the case is thrown out but by then they'll be out of business

@staringatclouds @republik_magazin

It makes me so angry that SLAPP suits are not immediately tossed and the filer fined an punishing amount of capital.

@MissConstrue @staringatclouds @republik_magazin

It takes some nerve, brazen supervillains trying to take people to court. Saruman doesn't get to fucking whine about somebody hurting his feelings when they point out the shit he's pulling right in front of everyone.

@republik_magazin Sounds like Switzerland might be an ideal place to move to. 🤔
@republik_magazin Paging Ms. Streisand.

@lerxst @republik_magazin I was thinking this; then I thought “maybe Palantir is already too well-known as evil for Streisand to have any effect” … but then why bother suing? 🤔 Perhaps it was simply the most evil idea they could come up with (evil people aren’t necessarily _clever_).

However, even @republik_magazin euphemizes Palantir as “controversial”. So maybe Streisand _will_ exact her terrible justice.

@republik_magazin Ugh, is this another example of a big corporation throwing money at suing those who say they are doing bad stuff? I hate this kind of abuse of a system that should protect the weaker.

Also like wtf, there is nothing particularly negative in the article – the concerns seem to be plausible and rejection is just part of doing business imo. Are they trying to provoke a #StreisandEffect by suing? 🙃

@republik_magazin
"Then, in 2020, the Federal Office for Defence Procurement (Armasuisse) asked Palantir to submit a bid for the “IT system of the Army Intelligence Service.”

Palantir did so – and was rejected once again."

That's pretty funny, I think they should ask Palantir to bid for some other contract just to mess with them a bit more

@republik_magazin @feed this piece felt very much your sort of thing
@republik_magazin i like how Palantir's approach method is very discreet, and each connection is intentionally designed to be impactful down to the last bit. a good read.
