I think I haven't met that many people IRL who would vibe with the "me" that's on the Fedi. And if feels like the more authentic me. If that makes any sense.

Mike Fraser@the_etrain I used to tell a lot of people about Mastodon then they ask me to explain it and both them and I walk away frustrated. It's the type of thing that is kind of exclusive because there's a cognitive barrier to entry, even though I loath saying that out loud.

Someone informed me that they didn't want to join because they didn't like the name, and someone started arguing that you can't run anything for free because someone has to pay for electricity. I thought, this is clearly not for these people, and left the conversation.
