The real reason Trump posted he wanted to send a hospital ship to Greenland, most likely is the fact that Danish Joint Arctic Command just evacuated a US Navy Sailor from a US submarine near Greenland, because the sailor was in need of acute medical attention.

Trump might have been asked to thank Denmark for this important help, but instead Trump came up with this weird distraction to hand to Fox News that the US is the one helping Denmark with a hospital ship, as if we did not have hospitals.

Given both official US hospital ships are laid up for maintenance until July at the earliest, Trump lied when he said it was "on the way".

Shocking, I know.

The Administration then indicated that a third ship was being sent — from the other side of the USA and NOT an official hospital ship.

The amount of gymnastics the sycophants have to do to support Trump's brain farts should make them eligible for the Olympics.

@401matthall @PeterLG @randahl To pick up a sailor from a ship smaller than a carrier much less a sub requires a helicopter. Helicopters have limited range and nobody has long range aircraft capable of launching a helicopter even though some big ones can carry a chopper with the rotors folded up.

Big transports can only land on long, hard surface runways. Then the chopper has to be unloaded, set up, inspected (a mechanical in a chopper can really ruin your day), and finally preflighted and flown. Meanwhile the clock runs.

Trump probably had no other way to get that sailor off that sub except to get on his knees and beg Denmark to help. The Danes had the grace to step up, realizing that an ill sailor is not Donald Trump.

He's already off the sub and in a hospital in Greenland. Transferring him to a US hospital by plane would be both easier and cheaper than moving a US hospital to Greenland on a ship.

Oh, and while we're at it, that was not a Danish helicopter from an airport in range of the sub, it was a helicopter off a Danish military ship.

Even if we had been talking about how to get a sick sailor off a sub, sailing a US ship with a helicopter on board to Greenland would still be easier than a hospital ship. For one, I'm sure the US navy has more than two of those.
