The Constitution's supremacy clause bars local interference with federal officers when they act reasonably, within the scope of their duties.

But when agents cross that line, experts said, there's an obligation to try to hold them accountable.

“You’re Not Going to Investigate a Federal Officer”

It doesn’t happen often, but local law enforcement can arrest and charge federal agents. Legal experts say there’s a moral obligation to at least try to hold federal immigration officers accountable when they violate the Constitution and the law.

@ProPublica The "officers" have to be from a legitimate and constitutionally abiding government in order to be viewed under that clause. What part of public execution of civilians fits that?
This blatant use of violence to coerce a civilian population - strips this regimes legitimacy and places it squarely on the wrong side of the law. Just because republican congress people are clawing at the last vestiges of 'reasonable' doubt by melodramatically flailing about, doesn't mean much
@ProPublica It idd goes back all the way to McCulloch v Maryland: "No principle [of state power] . . . can be admissible, which would
defeat the *legitimate* operations of a supreme government" @decapitae

@ProPublica

Yes, yes we are, and hold accountable. And arrest Trump the pedo.

@ProPublica Oh, the white supremacy clause.

@ProPublica
If they are not following the Constitution - if they are violating it regularly - they cannot be considered federal officers.

ICE is a collection of thugs. They should be arrested wherever they are found and tried for their crimes.

@ProPublica I see some people still haven’t understood what ACAB means yet. They’re all on the same team with the same goals.
@ProPublica We will hold them accountable in 2029 when we hold American style Nuremburg trials. We will then throw them into the deepest darkest hole until they go mad.
@ProPublica Look at the LRAD on top of that armored vehicle (top middle). It's only a matter of time before they start turning these advanced weapons on protestors. Line your protest sign with aluminum foil to block the microwave LRADs and bring shop ear muffs for the sonic LRADs.
@ProPublica
I'm French and I wonder :
Is it up to a judge to bring legal action against these federal agents or the federal agency? And if so, if the government appeals to the Supreme Court and the Court rules in its favor, what recourse remains to enforce the Constitution’s supremacy clause?
