⚠️ #Tusky ⚠️, some #CustomEmoji in posts are being animated despite having them disabled in Tusky's preferences.

Just came across one of the fast paced flashing blob emojis (blob_rave) through scrolling and spotted it. Searching that emoji "blob_rave", most rightly aren't being animated, but there are a few that are popping up for me being animated, specifically a post containing that emoji that also is in #MastoAdmin & #FediAdmin tags.

#FlashingEmoji #Emoji #AnimatedEmoji #Bug #Mastodon

Even after logging out, clearing cache and logging back in still has the issue with the animated emoji not respecting the preferences. It's not that post in particular itself, in which the emoji correctly doesn't animate from a different instance, but it is for some reason on my account on this instance here.

Probably not even actually anything new from v32 I just came across it by chance.

I'll see if a different account on here has the same issue with the same post

Given an older build of Tusky Nightly a test v30, that still has the issue, so it's not a v32 bug per say, just still a bug present in v32. Just now awaiting seeing if it's the case also from from a test account on here, if the same emoji on the same post has the issue, then it'd suggest it's a weird instance specific issue that's botched up

Okay I've confirmed that same exact post with the offending emoji that's escaping the Tusky preference specifically here on .art also happens on a different .art account in Tusky.

What the actual hell is this bug that's caused this lmfao.

It's the blob_rave in this post that's not respecting my setting:

Again it's only happening here on .art though with that post, haven't found any other post that's animating despite having animated emojis off.

Désolé pour le petit downtime, mais on est en 4.4 :blob_rave: #MastoAdmin #FediAdmin

@welshpixie does masto now offer any way for you as mod to attach a CW to posts on your own instance's side or is it still limited to just marking a post's media as sensitive and that's it. As like lodart's post if it's to be deleted is going to possibly result in never finding what has caused this bug, but then same time anyone else on Tusky on .art goes onto that post, and bam they have the emoji animating despite their settings having animated emojis disabled.
@jase still just marking sensitive :/
@welshpixie gosh damn mastodon geez. Why do we gotta always do the nuclear option just to try to minimise harm.. when like in this case that may solve it for now but if it happens later down the line again maybe someone else spots this bug, it's such a niche bug, that @Tusky may never be able to fix it. As it is right now maybeeee a Tusky dev might be able to figure it out having that specific post on here that's the problem so try from a .art account themselves debugging try find the root of it
@jase aye :( Aside from the tag here have you reported it to them?
@welshpixie @jase we're on it 🙂
Animated emoji from specific post animates in Tusky logged in on any .art account disrespecting disabled animated emojis preference, but isn't happening on other insatnces. [Possibly very niche race condition or something?]

### Detailed description I have animated emojis disabled in Tusky due to photosensitivity. I was browsing in Tusky logged into my mastodon.art account through #FediAdmin posts and stumbled upon [this post](https://pouet.space/@lodart/114823178792280901) with a fast flashing animated `:blob_rave...

Okay Claire has mentioned about it being a bug with the cached emoji itself masto fixed last year: https://mastodon.social/@ClearlyClaire/116011450545763861

@jase @Tak ahh ok, what's the emoji shortcode? Edit: nm found it, I'll delete :)
@Tak @welshpixie it's :blob_rave:
@jase @Tak yeah, when I searched the shortcode, the pouet one was the only animated one. I've deleted it now. Thanks @ClearlyClaire ^.^
@Tak @ClearlyClaire @welshpixie well hey we found the cause 😂 And well hopefully Tusky takes it as still a valid thing to well implement to protect against that an emoji with no static version cached will just display the short code based on a user's preference if they have animated emojis off.. as protection regardless of being fixed by the backend instance of not. And same well any client. Definitely a very worthy thing to protect that hey masto may fixed but what about next fedi software lol
@Tak @ClearlyClaire @welshpixie
... hold up wow it's an animated png that.. that makes it more complex than a quick check it's the correct extension/format. Animated png, that I feel totally set things in motion for this exact bug to come about that mastodon didn't re-encode it, left it sitting as the original file.. and being the same extension bam, this bug is born. Having simply maybe a "apng" for animated pngs.. that ".png" is not allowed.. that'd of prevented it in the first place omg
@Tak @ClearlyClaire @welshpixie i thought for longest time it was a gif those animated emojis lol
