I do not use any more:
- Amazon
- Apple subscriptions (Apple Music, TV etc.)
- digital cloud
- AWS
- CloudFlare as domain register
- American big tech social media (all deleted)
- MS Office on my private machines (still forced at work, but am working on that)

All big American tech. NO MORE! We will never trust you again!

I am moving forward with removing US big tech companies from my life.
#EU don’t want to do sanctions against US, we the people will!!!!!

@seven_708 amazing, that’s real commitment, well done!

@seven_708 I do a lot of media and python work at my workplace, a 1st Nation school that uses Office365. Windows was such a PITA, that I switched to UbuntuStudio, the media recoding and editing became much easier and less expensive.

I take advantage of the Edge browser for linux to support the minimal work I need to do in Office, by using all of its online applications inside Edge. For serious consistent work it’s linux …

@pinhman I would love to get rid of Windows at work, but they are so deep in MS pockets. I am trying to get at least Office replaced for me, on my machine. LibreOffice is the way to go. And I forgot to add that I replaced edge (at work) with #vivaldi, super nice browser.
@seven_708 Occasionally I’m handed an MS Office “impossibility”. I just use openoffice to solve the issue …
@pinhman love this

@seven_708 I've also used abiword in the past for corrupted word files.

Saved one grad student's thesis work a few days before their defense.

@seven_708 The upgrades to collabora office are supposed to be good. Its forte is mutual editing in real time. But for organizations with poor policy this may cause more problems than it solves

@pinhman interesting. I’ll have a look at this, maybe I get the project team to do a budget cost analysis on this versus MS office. If I can’t convince them on the principle, maybe on money ;) Thanks for this.

@seven_708 I've been using Zen browser with with Mastadonning I open sooo many tabs. I like the way it minimizes all the tab management to a slim little side bar.

Also has a workspaces feature to separate things further

It can do a split view, showing two tabs side by side

Its based on firefox, but has none of the AI, still in beta

Zen Browser

Beautifully designed, privacy-focused, and packed with features.

@pinhman interesting. I’ll give it a shot. See how it goes with some tracking test etc. Thanks.
@seven_708 What are you replacing them with?
@seven_708 we that care yes. but there is a big audience who dont
@kedacore agree. To support I chose to be verbal about the switch online, but in my local community I am going one step further, and I simply support the switch. Already got one of my friend to try Linux and he is now switching from windows to it. Baby steps.
@seven_708 when canceling US services, if asked, just mention something like boycott USA to make things perfectly clear. Money is the only language they understand…
@zulutoo I actually did “Fuck nazi supporters" :D (not to all of them tho. I am a bit angry with the US, sorry
