Imma stop you right there. Jonathan Ross, the man who murdered Renee Good by shooting her in the face three times and then calling her a "fucking bitch" while fleeing the scene, is a 10 year DHS vet and a firearms instructor. He's who they get training FROM.

This can't be fixed with training. This gets fixed with lasting and severe consequences.

@jonberger @Lana There are two training problems. They made training 47 days. Which is too short, and was intended as a dumb joke, which tells you how seriously they take that training. The second problem is that the training is designed to max out the toxic masculinity.

@BenHM3 @Lana Attempting to teach de-escalation to people whose personal self-image requires escalation is indeed a dubious proposition. I used to work for a civilian law-enforcement oversight agency, and we could prattle on about de-escalation until the proverbial cows came home, bolstered by citations to the passages in the departmental policy manual that explicitly required it, and all they had to do was say "based on my training and experience, I concluded that I was in imminent danger of injury or death" and those pesky regulations just went away. I think all the word processors in that department had one-keystroke macros that spat out that magic incantation. I got disenchanted with that job real quick.

My vengeful suggestion: He has to spend his life (may it be mercifully short) cleaning up toxic waste or nuclear contamination sites. And if he gets ill or injured in the process, and asks for a doctor, he just gets reminded about the fact that he blocked first responders, so no medical care for him.

It's probably better if no one ever makes me emperor. It could get quite ugly for fascists and sociopathic billionaires.

Also the training would be along the lines of the paranoid “Bulletproof Warrior” police training. The more trained in that sense the more danger to the community and more killings by the trained officers. Such “training” has led to more killings by the police than would be the case in the complete absence of training.

@Lana Also! ICE arrested and detained about 1500 legal U.S. residents during the Obama Administration (don’t know about the Biden Administration). Some of them were held for months before being released.

A reasonable person might think that ICE detaining even a handful of legal residents was a big deal and that the agency should take precautions to reduce or eliminate this problem.

But ICE didn’t care and kept doing it!

The institutional culture of ICE has always been a dumpster fire.
