@molly0xfff Woah!
Though I must admit you lost me at cuff down travelling stitch something. :-)

Do you need self-sealing stem bolts to knit those? ;-)

@newstik @molly0xfff
No, but a few cable needles would make it easier.
@EugestShirley @molly0xfff Who is the bespectacled guy in the back?
@newstik @molly0xfff
I don't recognize him either.
@newstik my guess is that would be Ira Steven Behr, but it's hard to tell without his hat and purple goatee πŸ˜…
@EugestShirley @molly0xfff
@EugestShirley @newstik @molly0xfff or Rivnuts if you’re in a rush.
@molly0xfff this feels like some kind of quantum trap.
@molly0xfff this is what the internet is for
@molly0xfff @DMakarios I think you might enjoy this
@DMakarios @molly0xfff the post I was replying to about a knitted sock pattern which is designed to look like the example sock on Wikipedia.
@SimonCHulse Hmm - can't see the post at all. Will delve a bit...

@molly0xfff
Nice sock. Interesting cables. Kudos to the person who deconstructed the pattern.

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff Maybe the Wikipedia sock was knitted from the pattern? Perhaps the pattern has been published elsewhere besides Ravelry?

"The sock shown on Wikipedia is the medium size with no calf shaping."

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff I would even go so far as to suspect that the Wikipedia person who uploaded the sock photo, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Loggie, and the Amy E-W of Ravelry, are the same person. Their writing has a certain vibe.

@ghouston @EugestShirley @molly0xfff The pattern in that sock is very common in the socks of the norwegian national flock costume; a "Bunad". Those socks (bunadsstrΓΈmper/bunadssokker) is typically used by men, and extends up to just below the knee. Held in place by a ribbon and the lower part of the trousers.

@molly0xfff idk the first thing about #knitting or #crochet, but the people who do these crafts seem very fun-spirited. So, I share this reminder that the U.S. National Park Service has patterns for a goat, a cactus, fish, triops, a beaver, and more. https://www.nps.gov/search/?query=crochet&sitelimit=&affiliate=nps

@jgrg @molly0xfff I feel like this pattern has promise for #cat owners. Include a pocket or pouch in the belly or gills where one could place cat treats or catnip.
@jgrg @aleciabatson @molly0xfff Their lava column pattern makes a great cactus! (I improvised the flowers.)
@epicdemiologist @jgrg @molly0xfff wow! Did you just crochet this?! It looks great and im very impressed. πŸ‘πŸ»
@aleciabatson @jgrg @molly0xfff Thanks, I did it a couple of years ago for my kid who loves the desert.
@epicdemiologist @jgrg @molly0xfff it looks great. The addition of the blossoms is an excellent improvisation. 🌡

@aleciabatson @molly0xfff Crochet is super fun and surprisingly easy to get started. Highly recommend the activity! All you need to learn is the single stitch, plus how to go in the round (look up "magic circle" and you'll be off to the races), and you'll be crocheting plushy cacti in no time!

Knitting on the other hand? No idea. Too intimidated to try lol

@gordoooo_z @molly0xfff okay! Ill consider crochet. 🧢

@aleciabatson @molly0xfff Woah, I've never felt such power to mold minds! I'll try not to let it consume me :p

In all seriousness though, I hope you enjoy it! It's a pleasant diversion. If you're anything like me and prefer improvising over following a recipe, then you'll appreciate how intuitive it is once you get the basics down to just play it by ear and make what you see in your head.

@gordoooo_z @molly0xfff thank you for the encouragement! 😊
@molly0xfff This is hilarious, and I am definitely at least partially the target audience (would be 100% if they were crocheted socks lol). I did get some knitting needles a couple months back but haven't given it a go yet 🀷

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff I did buy a bunch of very nice cotton sock yarn one time, but I ended up using it for other projects because trying to make two socks vaguely the same was too intimidating πŸ˜…

Then again, most pairs of feet aren't quite identical. It probably would've been fine lol, though at the time I didn't really know enough stitches to have improvized a very comfortable pair of socks. Single stitches don't really leave a lot of wiggle room, at least not with cotton I suspect.

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff I did discover that I really like cotton sock yarn for all sorts of projects though. Just a very pleasant material.
@molly0xfff At first I thought it was about wikipedia socks, the puppet kind... lol
@molly0xfff fyi you have an unparsed <br> and &nbsp; in your image descriptions
@molly0xfff how are there only 8 projects?!?
@molly0xfff you are really cool. Goes from posting about techbro fraud to knitting advice.
