spotted on ravelry: the pattern to knit the sock pictured on the Wikipedia article for "sock"

@molly0xfff
Nice sock. Interesting cables. Kudos to the person who deconstructed the pattern.

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff Maybe the Wikipedia sock was knitted from the pattern? Perhaps the pattern has been published elsewhere besides Ravelry?

"The sock shown on Wikipedia is the medium size with no calf shaping."

@EugestShirley @molly0xfff I would even go so far as to suspect that the Wikipedia person who uploaded the sock photo, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Loggie, and the Amy E-W of Ravelry, are the same person. Their writing has a certain vibe.

@ghouston @EugestShirley @molly0xfff The pattern in that sock is very common in the socks of the norwegian national flock costume; a "Bunad". Those socks (bunadsstrømper/bunadssokker) is typically used by men, and extends up to just below the knee. Held in place by a ribbon and the lower part of the trousers.
