We are releasing DuckDB version 1.5.0, codenamed “Variegata”. This release comes with a friendly CLI (a new, more ergonomic command line client), support for the VARIANT type, a built-in GEOMETRY type, along with many other features and optimizations. The v1.4.0 LTS line (“Andium”) will keep receiving updates until its end-of-life in September 2026.

Some exciting life news... I am now a lecturer in Entomology and Ecology at Lincoln University in New Zealand!
We took the Entomology students on a fieldtrip over the weekend, and saw some of my favourite invertebrates: Velvet worms (Ooperipatellus) and giant springtails (Holacanthella)! Always a joy to see these incredible creatures.

Feel free to drop me some feedback as an issue on the repo
Here’s the old video I made about the hummingbird mom and her nest. I still see female Anna’s around my house so I’m pretty sure they’re nesting nearby, but not in a place as easy to access as it was that year.

So impressed with this video clip that UNSW have put together covering @Andbaker 's groundwater recharge work!
Love the use of the watercolours, and Andy's very calming voiceover :)
