A #sundial that shows time digitally

"The sundial displays time (with actual digits !!) from 10:00 until 16:00, updating every 20 minutes"

Too bad it only goes up to 14:20, almost made it to 16:20 (4:20pm) πŸ˜‚

Yes, that's cool and it "No batteries, no motor, no electronics..."

@cainmark
The 4 orig Martimus boost

@martinus
thanks, that is really cool.
@martinus I tried to print this last year .... It's a tough print, you have to make sure your calibration is on point without any stringing. Some walls between the "holes" are are 0.1 thick and printed at an angle and not getting them right means some numbers do not display right. It's an amazing print, but a tough one
@martinus I thought β€˜I should make this’ followed immediately by β€˜I live in Ireland, sundials are useless’
@Squozen I'm not a scientist, but what about a raindial? There could be some downsides, like the angle the rain falls on it and so, but at least it also works at night? 😜
@martinus @Squozen In Ireland you might use the oscillation frequency and amplitude of pub customers.
@martinus
The one question that remains: β€œwhy?”.
@sjaakkeuvelaar The only possible answer is rhetoric: "why not?"
@martinus
Calibrating that must be pretty tricky.
@martinus ha! so cool! gotta give one! apparently made to order & difficult to make & the etsy shop creator/seller reveal from this thread says the shop is on hiatus. data?
@peterfisherbooks sorry, no I don't have data about that.
@martinus pro-tip: don't use PLA filament 🫠
@faxmodem That's what the maker in the thingiverse-link also says. πŸ˜‰
