A remarkably prophetic 1923 cartoon depicting how a creative process would be automated in 2023.

@metin Sadly they got the social implications wrong, unless the guy on the phone is meant to be the CEO of the company selling Cartoon Dynamos and not the artist :)

@dougbinks H. T. Webster (the cartoonist) was an avid fisherman, and that's the sort of thing that people into fishing would do back then, a couple of weeks at a time. The joke is that now he has the time to make the trip.

@metin

@bosak @metin Yes I understand his joke; my point is that the reality would be that the cartoonist would have no time to fish. They would be too busy trying to earn a living as something other than a cartoonist now that job is being done by a Cartoon Dynamo.

@metin Astonishing! Especially when you consider the expectations for the future in the 50s.

I love how every inconceivable device is just called a "dynamo" πŸ˜‚

@metin Interesting! They didn’t foresee that the newspaper might just buy the idea dynamo and the cartoonist would be out of a job.
@metin Makes me think of this one
@JDGooiker Ook zeer treffend! πŸ‘
@metin Wow! Where is this from?
@b_cavello I don’t know the exact publication, but I guess it’s a 1923 newspaper. A reverse image search might help.
