Heads up to any #arch #linux users utilizing #nvidia #gtx1080 #pascal series or older cards need to read this post prior to updating blindly which can lead to breakage.

Intervention required for Pascal/older users: Users with GTX 10xx series and older cards must switch to the legacy proprietary branch to maintain support:

👉 Uninstall the official nvidia, nvidia-lts, or nvidia-dkms packages.
👉 Install nvidia-580xx-dkms from the AUR

Arch Linux - News: NVIDIA 590 driver drops Pascal and lower support; main packages switch to Open Kernel Modules

@milagemayvary glad I upgraded from a #1050Ti to a #Vega64 2+ years ago.

@kkarhan

This is the way.

I've had the same hardware since getting into basically daily driving Linux around 2016 after MS was forcing digitally signed drivers which caused my knock off wireless xbox360 reciever to be functionality useless. Bah!

Since moving to Linux, Nvidia has been nothing but a pain in the ass to work with but great when it works.

I'll try to find a used new-ish AMD card to drop into the ol' ROG I got back in 2012.
