Digital ID could lead to “the worst data breach in UK government history”.

Despite fierce opposition, the UK government is embarking on a digital surveillance infrastructure that has fundamental cybersecurity holes in its foundations.

We must say #NotoDigitalID.

Once a national digital ID system is in place, mission creep is inevitable.

We could be forced to use it more and more in everyday life, opening the door to unprecedented tracking of our interactions with the State.

Join the Campaign: Say No To Digital ID

What is happening? The Government is proposing that everyone in the UK should have mandatory Digital ID cards to prove their right to work. Here's why we need to push back hard on this idea: Today it's a mandatory ID card to prove you have the right to work but in the future you might have to use it to access the NHS, to rent or buy a home, or to access benefits. These schemes ALWAYS expand. Once the infrastructure is in place, it's easy to sleepwalk into surveillance state where we constantly have to prove who we are just to go about our daily lives. It will be a bureacratic nightmare.

Sounds like BS or conspiracy theory
@openrightsgroup OneLogin. This is wild.
@annehargreaves @openrightsgroup As one of the people who legally already have had to use the gov.uk 'one login' process, it's half-baked and poorly implemented. I happen to posess a UK driving licence and passport, so could actually use the system in the first place, but still can't actually complete the process to link my established identity with the required government service, because they're not ready for that yet, but yet I legally have to.
@zymurgic @openrightsgroup I haven't tried it as I already have a "gov" login luckily.

I received an email from ‘LIBERTY’ extract:-

“Multiple whistleblowers have told ITV News that there are significant security vulnerabilities in the Government’s upcoming digital ID system that may endanger the personal information of millions of people in the UK.”

.
“These revelations confirm some of our worst fears: the Government’s digital ID system will put the public’s personal safety and privacy at risk.”
