#movie #50: Jurassic World Rebirth
“I didn’t hate every moment” amounts to the best Jurassic movie since the 90s. 😵💫

#movie #53: Superman (2025)
A superhero movie that made me feel joy? Yeah, I freaking loved it.
#movie #57: Lilo & Stitch (2025)
Posting this a couple days late, but I liked it!
#movie #74: The Fantastic 4: First Steps
Btw, I make these reviews with my own app, Quick Reviews https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quick-reviews/id6740369719
#movie #75: Hot Fuzz
Absolutely on of my top 10 films all time.
#movie #77: Black Phone 2
This movie put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day 😅
#movie #83: Die Hard
First Christmas movie of the year watched and fucking adored.
#movie #84: Carry-On
Home sick, feeling miserable, put on a very okay movie with one wild sequence.
#movie #87: Wake Up Dead Man
Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyal, Rian Johnson?
Edit: I’m sure there are other murder mystery writers out there doing great things, but is anyone else doing it at such a mainstream level? If so, I’d love to hear about them!
#movie #91: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
👀
#movie #98: The Fellowship of the Ring
Also, I watched the extended version this time and it just reaffirmed my long-standing belief that the standard editions are better movies, and the extended versions are just “more LOTR” and that all some people want, which is fine. For me, it shows how impactful editing is on the final product, and how amazing a job they did for the theatrical cuts.
#movie #99: One Battle After Another
I really love a movie that gets better the second time you watch it in a week.
#movie #101: The Two Towers
I’ll say it again, these movies are miracles.
#movie #102: Sorry, Baby
Count this in the “really liked it” category.
@matt_birchler I don’t remember the theatrical cuts at all
All I know is the extended editions
It’s not the same these days on streaming though
Gotta go back to when each of the extended movies were on two DVDs and you had to switch in the middle
@matt_birchler I used to totally be in the extended or nothing camp. But I've also grown to appreciate this view as all movies runtimes have increased over the years.
I can still happily watch a good three hour epic, but I increasingly appreciate the tightly cut 90 minute flick when I come across it.
@jasonclarke Of course! The "doesn't rise to the heights of the last one" was because the story in the last one was really impactful for me.
Honestly I'm not sure why this franchise in particular gets this specific criticism. I have seen sooooo many more forgettable stories.
