NYT reports that the TSA is giving ICE a list of every person who's to be taking a domestic flight inside the US so ICE can run it through their database looking for targets.

I'm not a lawyer, but I feel like the 4th Amendment has something to say about this.

T.S.A. Is Providing Air Passenger Data to Immigration Agents for Deportation Effort

The Transportation Security Administration is providing passenger lists to Immigration and Customs Enforcement to identify and detain travelers subject to deportation orders.

The New York Times
@evacide What ultimately matters is not what the 4th says, but what the people responsible for enforcing it say. The system fails when people fail it.
@evacide The 4th is about illegal searches of your home since before this Extreme Court. Privacy laws enacted under Article I powers are what’s being breached.

@evacide

Passenger Name Records surveillance. This is what we fought against teeth & claws over here in EU with our US allies EFF, ACLU & EPIC ~18 years ago.

We lost this match & this is the outcome. cc/ing the fellow veterans @ehasbrouck @glynmoody

@harkank @evacide @ehasbrouck @glynmoody We even won a battle, the one against the EU-Canada PNR agreement, case C-1/15 at the CJEU. But hell yeah, we lost this war.

@bendrath @harkank @evacide @glynmoody - What's worst is that the US has now gotten UN bodies to try to globalize this system, so that even world's worst human rights abusing governments will be able to surveil and control air travelers:

Precog in a Box – Papers, Please!

As Ralph said. Before the Bush years travelling to the US was a pleasure. Got an M.A. in American literature, had a fishing licence all over Texas including the pond at the Waco compound, been to conferences in DC. Was in the Texas hill county listening to polka bands & drinking Czech beers, stayed the redneck Riviera & met so many friendly folks. Sadly will never be there again .

@evacide

So REAL ID was not the solution? /s

Has the TSA added immigration enforcement to “Secure Flight”? – Papers, Please!

@evacide I wish the Constitution still mattered.
🙁

@evacide

Recall that TSA was a bullshit #authoritarian overreach #Scam perpetrated by #W following 9/11..

It should have been shut down 20 years ago.

So #TSA collaboration with #ICE makes perfect sense in an #Orwellian #AdmiralPoindexter sorta way..

@evacide ICE basically has ignored the entire Bill of Rights since the inauguration, not just the 4th amendment! And there's now a judge who is holding a hearing about whether or not ***Trump*** and his subordinates are in contempt of court!
@evacide “ Some former ICE officials said the program would be a huge help to an agency struggling to meet the numbers of deportations sought by the Trump administration.”
Ewww. What a fucking reason to go evil. Time for hippie buses and alt transport.

@evacide

Thanks for posting this.

@evacide I knew nothing good could come of the TSA requirement for full passenger manifests 72 hours before a flight. I seem to remember when we passed laws limiting such things, after the Church Committee hearings, back in 1975. But then the USAPATRIOT Act undid _all_ those protections with a single stroke of Dubya's pen.
@evacide It will go to court and SCOTUS will invalidate the 4th amendment just like they did (and continue to do to) the 14th.
@evacide Wait, there are four amendments? I thought there were only two, with the first one being optional.
