Don’t use “Christian Nationalists”.

Instead, say “Nationalist Christians”.

Or “Nat-C”, for short.

@dgar Genius friend. I can't believe I did not see that earlier myself.
@dgar I did nazi this coming.
@dgar Why not just call them ‘Nan-C Boys?’

@dgar Nat-C is National Conservatism.

Yes, that is a thing.

@purple @dgar

por que no los dos?

They are not all that different.

"National conservatism is a variant of conservatism that prioritizes the defense of national and cultural identity..."

I assume "cultural identity" are people they consider white, which is an ever moving target for Nazis.

National conservative tries to work within the bounds of democracy, and Nazis are generally violent authoritarians.

The Nazis came from a twisting of National Conservatism with far right ideologies.

@milagemayvary yes Nazis and Nat-Cs are essentially the same thing, that is somewhat ‘the joke’ (in so much as any of this is funny), but you seem to have read my or @dgar 's post backwards somewhere.

@purple

Heh, I do not doubt that.

I would add that the first line was directly for you, and every line after that would be me just over explaining for the sake of adding something to the thread.

Not everyone is in on the joke.

Take care.

@dgar
Been doing that for months now. 😉
@dgar Here in the USA I've long wondered if the religious label or the political label should go first. A lot of people don't really think there is much difference between the two, and don't think about which one is driving the other, and that is troubling to me.
Political news/influencer voices often lean into this gray area and use that to cement trust and viewing loyalship. (sorry making up words.)
We pretty much believe anything said by the voices we trust ... especially those things said in a serious tone. (and I'm posting this in a serious tone in case anyone here trusts me ... which is something you may want to reconsider!) :-)

@clolsonus @dgar that was my thought too... The order is pretty irrelevant to me.

Such a large part of Christianity feels to be mainly political in nature.

Christo-fascists is my term of choice. Of course, calling a spade a spade and a Nazi a Nazi is also right.

@clolsonus @dgar

I follow American and German politics and wrt religion it's quite different over there

AfD and radical Christians: An alliance of convenience?

The radical right in Germany, Europe and the US portrays itself as the defender of the Christian West against Islam. But religion is not really at the heart of this conflict.

Deutsche Welle
@dgar
Nat-see?
Brother naht-zee.
@dgar When you say it out loud…
@dgar Actually, call them nationalist assholes. Nothing even remotely christian about them.

@dgar

How about Christian Terrorists, like they always call others Islamist Terrorists?

@dgar that’s beautiful. “i’m not calling you a nazi, i’m calling you a nat-c”

@dgar nationalism is the ideology of the maintenance of nations.
Many are nationalists, christian nationalism is usually seen as more extreme than nationalism as it creates a nation around christianity rather than region. However they would have similar features such as inclusion/ exclusion of individuals, police, centralised power, national mythology ( even if not christian)

Nationalism is not limited to concentration camps, but it does still lead to division and war and is a common ideology.

@dgar My point is that current common concieved nations such as italy, france, uk, ghana, australia, china, norway, ... are still nationalist, still exclude, still centralise power, still maintain and enforce national mythology

@dgar
History of Nationalism was anti-Christian.

History of Christianity was globalist.

"Christian Nationalist" is an oxymoron.

@dgar Christians? That word is doing some heavy lifting there
@dgar Andrew Sullivan coined the term Christianists to distinguish Christo-fascists from actual Christians. A worthwhile distinction.
@dgar "Christian" or "Nationalist" is all the same. Just call them what they are, A-holes!
@dgar "Dominionist" is another term for the nat-cs.
