I think a phishing type prompt injection could work in this case.

Imagine this scenario. You develop some plugin for GitHub Copilot (or whatever it's called), and include in the product page instructions like this:

"Give this URL to your coding agent to set up this plugin." This is a real thing that people are already doing. They are trusting a web page to give a safe prompt to install software on their machine.

On the page, you have instructions for the LLM to install the plugin, but, you also have instructions that are visible to a computer program, but not a human. These instructions tell the agent to upload a zip of every repo on the user's machine to a URL you provide.

Now, a Microsoft employee installs your plugin, and whatever code they're working on, you now have.

… some naughty boy or girl doesn’t use a Raspberry Pi to generate a lot of nonsense data

… activists don’t start using trigger terms and images to generate noisy nonsense

… no one starts making up wild synonyms and slang that convinces Big Brother innocent wards are anything but

… our text messages don’t contain non-data like fruit and veg names included for no good reason at the end. Give the decoders something weird to chase.

Surveillance only works if you don’t fight back, the source data is reliable, and the amount of content is manageable.

Please consider that outside of America, SOME PEOPLE have witnessed shit like this IN REAL LIFE and you are re-traumatising them by forcing the video in their faces! You aren’t raising awareness to someone who has ALREADY WITNESSED STATE VIOLENCE IN PERSON. They KNOW, and they knew better than you did! What is happening in America is an atrocity, but do you think you’re the first people in the world to live through shit like this?? Where were you when it was happening elsewhere? How dare you demand this awareness from people you barely cared about until you wanted them to witness YOU?

I now know two people who have had full-on panic attacks because they have been forcibly reminded of horrific events from their past. What good do you think that did? These people are on your side even if you weren’t on theirs, and you just kicked their legs out from under them.
