He was a dick, but he's the closest thing we have left with any of Steve Jobs' unique talents. And his legacy with the company (putting aside Apple Maps) would give him the deference necessary to impose good software design on a company that's lost its way.

Of course Cook would never, and Federighi would threaten to quit.
