Attributes are the one addition to PHP since I started using it just before version 4 that I really strongly dislike. They’re code that’s not code, and they should die in a fire. My journey with Ruby may not end well. I’m already annoyed. Symbols are just plain weird, and not requiring (but allowing) brackets on function calls is madness. Am I reading a variable’s value or running a very slow query inside this loop? There’s no way to know without either command-clicking on it, or just remembering. The tooling feels old and sucky. Also, RunyMine’s autocomplete sucks compared to PHPStorm’s because metaprogramming & DSLs. #php #dontatmebro
