My journey with Ruby may not end well. I’m already annoyed. Symbols are just plain weird, and not requiring (but allowing) brackets on function calls is madness. Am I reading a variable’s value or running a very slow query inside this loop? There’s no way to know without either command-clicking on it, or just remembering. The tooling feels old and sucky. Also, RunyMine’s autocomplete sucks compared to PHPStorm’s because metaprogramming & DSLs. #php #dontatmebro

I decided that learning Ruby & Rails will be good for me, so even though I was told that I could be placed elsewhere I think I’ll stick with it. There’s no better way to get back into coding than starting right from the basics again!

I gave up on email a long time ago. I have over 25,000 unread messages in my Gmail, and I bet less than 1% of them are from people I know. I’m sure I’m not the only one. And it’s a shame, because once upon a time it was an intimate medium fo short or long form correspondence.
I like what 37signals did with hey.com, but it really needed to be a protocol, not a website.
Easy-to-use whitelists are a necessity.
