hey. Check out this squirrel
i have been thinking about it for at least two weeks basically non-stop
it's so incredibly round and unbelievably content
@whitequark Not so much a squiggle as a squorb.
@whitequark it turns out there was no need to *assume* a perfectly spherical squirrel!
@whitequark omg look at them, they look like me at a buffet
@whitequark Catherine, you cant upgrade its firmware or plug it into a Glasgow.
@hendric Not with this attitude I can't
@whitequark squirrel: checked ✅
@whitequark me: "aren't you typically known for burying these so rainwater will leach tannins and you can eat them later"
this squirrel:
@whitequark this squirrel is thriving
@artemis i think about it whenever i want some measure of joy in my life
@whitequark basically a picture of the US president hoarding money
@Anneke this was completely unnecessarily political
@whitequark sorry. I love squirrels.
@whitequark Look at how many nuts it's sitting on! No wonder it's so pleased with its situation!
@whitequark um, it looks like it already ate all the nuts lol.
@whitequark He's ready for Winter!
@whitequark It's fat squirrel week!
@whitequark "uh... now what do I do with all these??"
@whitequark Aw, yissss, that's a good sqrl.
@whitequark I was recently up in the mountains in my old Jeep Islander. It was running a little rough so I popped the hood, took the breather off to check the air filter and found 👇👇👇
@philpetree @whitequark
One spring when I was a kid, Dad had finished getting his motorbike ready. He grabbed his helmet from where it had hung upside down since the summer before, flipped it up onto his head, and it was full to the brim with acorns. He's standing there with acorns continuing to roll down his face, not quire sure yet what was happening, and I was holding in laughter so hard I couldn't breathe.
@silvermoon82 @whitequark The little boogers are clever! (Also those funny moments are how dad's get the best nicknames!)
@whitequark Such a round little creature, simply silly
@whitequark I'm not hoarding, I'm prepping!

@whitequark

PHAT GUS, BAYBEEEE!

@whitequark

Clearly expecting a hard winter.

@whitequark I'm sorry I couldn't help myself...
@whitequark No wonder it’s so chonky look at all the nuts it’s surrounded by!
@whitequark he’s so freaking ready. So ready.
@whitequark This photo is INCREDIBLE
All hail Their Chonkiness ✨

@whitequark

The perfect metaphor for Republican billionaires, like Elon Musk, Charles Koch, & Peter Thiel, ...

...accumulating more than they could possibly ever need, fat with greed,

... yet still going out of their way to make sure you & yours don't get health care, education, food, choices, or a future.

@Npars01

I journeyed to the comments to find the "No more billionaires" sentiment (which is what popped into my head as well).

Mastodon did not disappoint 😄

@whitequark I saw you note "unnecessarily political" which is totally fair, sometimes a chonky squirrel is just a chonky squirrel

@dusk @whitequark

Chonky squirrels hoard acorns to survive tough winters, ...

What are billionaires rationale for hoarding enough wealth to survive a million winters?

@Npars01 you are commenting on a picture of a fat squirrel. Touch grass

@whitequark

I do. I adore these critters.

There's one in the garden shed building an enormous nest under the lawnmower at this moment & scolding me from the trees when I dare to open the door.

Pint-sized & bold.

@whitequark what billionaire is he related to?
@whitequark I LOVE that 1920's era Fur Coat vibe, but it should have been RACCOON, not squirrel......
@whitequark my wife described the squirrel as "incredibly successful"
@whitequark looks like they want to tell me a story
@whitequark makes me think of a dragon, atop a pile of gold
