💩 "Work and travel" #Russian style: girls from #Malawi are held in #Russia as unpaid labour

🇲🇼The authorities of #Malawi have started an investigation into reports that girls from this #African country may have ended up in labour slavery at the #Russian #Alabuga factory, where #Shaheds are produced.

According to the #South_African branch of #Human_Rights_Watch, the girls were recruited under the #Alabuga_Start program,

which promised education and work but turned out to be a cover for labour exploitation.

According to the investigative publication #Protocol, since 2022, #Alabuga has recruited about 350 women from 40 countries. Among them are 46 representatives from #Uganda, 14 each from #Kenya, #Nigeria, #Rwanda, and #South_Sudan, six from #South_Africa, and four from #Tanzania, #Zambia, and #Zimbabwe. The fate of the girls from #Malawi remains unknown.
