Nvidia is one of the few companies actually making money with AI by selling real products.
I would bet that they have some plan for when the bubble pops but want to keep it going as long as possible, since sooner or later all that money will arrive at Nvidia to buy more GPUs...
@dcre I agree. Investing in AI (which only benefits Nvidia) is nonsense.
But governments still need to do something about chips and long-term security in general.
Open and transparent grants, competition, not investments in individual companies (Intel)
@nixCraft The 1940's:
"We must develop the Nuclear Bomb before the nazis and Russians do, regardless of how harmful it is to the planet"
2025:
"We must develop AI before the Chinese do, regardless of the great harm it causes the planet"
Attached: 1 image #nVidia boss Jensen Huang, talking to Gary O'Donoghue from the #BBC about the new #UK #AI #DataCentres When asked "You also need a lot of energy to run your technology, electricity is a lot more expensive in this country than in the US, this is going to mean burning more fossil fuels in the country, right?" Huang replies " We are going to need energy of all different kinds....." "You are going to have to burn gas, right?" He replies "You can use solar, you can use wind, you can use gas, and hopefully use also nuclear... and so EVERY FORM OF ENERGY SHOULD BE DEPLOYED TO HELP DRIVE THIS INDUSTRY" (emphasis mine) WTF. I guess if we still had coal-fired power stations you would use that too for this crap autocomplete? #ClimateCrisis #DataCenters
